Bond Falls

Visitors gravitate to Bond Falls in Michigan, and it’s not difficult to see why.

If you’re in southern Ontonagon County, you can find the impressive Bond Falls on the middle branches of the Ontonagon River. The river flows over a series of bedrock steps that create a series of cascades and eventually a 50-foot drop. The falls are best viewed from the overlook on the south side of the river.

Tahquamenon Falls

Tahquamenon Falls is on the Tahquamenon River and is one of the most popular waterfalls in Michigan.

A series of five cascades drop nearly 50 feet over a span of about 200 feet.

The Upper Falls is the larger and more impressive of the two, dropping into a large basin.

The Lower Falls is a series of two smaller drops you can enjoy from an observation platform.

Hungarian Falls

The Hungarian Falls are located just outside of the town of Ishpeming.

These falls are unique because the river actually flows under a large boulder, creating a waterfall from both sides. Look out for the basaltic rock wall on the left side; it creates a beautiful cascade effect!

The falls are visible from a nearby parking lot and a short walk down to the river. 

Ocqueoc Falls

You will find Ocqueoc Falls in Presque Isle County, Michigan. This waterfall is the only official one in the northern lower peninsula. It is 15 feet high and flows over a limestone ledge into a deep plunge pool.

Ocqueoc Falls is easily accessible and can be viewed from a public access area and a short hike. This waterfall is especially popular during the spring when the runoff creates a larger and more impressive waterfall.
