We’ve all had dreams of visiting the Caribbean. White sand, crystal clear water, and mouth-watering cuisine that you just can’t get enough of. Really, what more could you want?

And although the entire Caribbean is an absolutely breathtaking destination, there are some islands that really stand out above the rest. If you’re planning a Caribbean vacation, then be sure to put these picturesque Caribbean islands on your bucket list.

Anguilla is widely regarded as one of the best Caribbean islands—and for good reason. With a blend of stunning natural beauty and laid-back island charm, Anguilla is a must-visit for those in need of a break from reality.

Pristine white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and an average of 300 days of sunshine a year make Anguilla a beach lover’s paradise. But even if you don’t like sitting on the beach for hours on end, Anguilla has a vibrant culinary scene—you really can eat yourself into a coma—and activities to suit all ages.

In the heart of the Caribbean lies Antigua which offers an unparalleled tropical paradise experience. On top of the island’s post-card-worthy beaches, Antigua also boasts a rich history which you can see in historical sites like Nelson’s Dockyard and the island’s beautifully preserved colonial architecture.

As Antigua is a popular Caribbean Island choice amongst tourists, you’ll find plenty of world-class resorts along with an abundance of activities, from sunbathing and snorkeling to sailing and cooking classes—there really is something for everyone.

However, if the sheer beauty of Antigua wasn’t enough, the island’s warm and welcoming locals only add to the charm, putting Antigua up there as one of the most unforgettable Caribbean experiences.

The southern Caribbean island of Aruba is renowned for its white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and year-round warm climate, which makes it one of the best islands if you’re looking to spend your time relaxing on the beach.

Even if you don’t like relaxing on the beach, however, you can get involved with activities like snorkeling and diving or get your adrenaline-pumping windsurfing or kitesurfing; Aruba really has it all. There are even chances to see flamingos by grabbing a day pass to Renaissance Island Aruba. What more could you want?

Bahamas

The Bahamas is a 30-minute flight from Miami—a convenient getaway for Southerners. And although many people believe the Bahamas to be one singular island, the Bahamas actually spans over 700 isles, with Grand Bahama and Nassau Paradise Island being the most popular amongst tourists.

Like many other islands in the Caribbean, the Bahamas has some of the most beautiful beaches you’ll ever lay your eyes on— some that even have swimming pigs (you’ll want to head to Exuma to see those). You can also find many adventurous activities on the islands, including exploring the Andros Barrier Reef, snorkeling the Thunderball Grotto, and strolling down the bustling market streets.

Barbados

Barbados is the Caribbean’s easternmost island that boasts beautiful beaches, coral reefs, and an abundance of marine life that is best viewed with a snorkel.

If you’re a rum drinker, then Barbados really is the place for you because it’s where rum-making began. With rum-making classes and cocktail workshops, you can get fully involved with the island’s favorite liquor before soaking the alcohol back up with delicious Caribbean food.
