Gamla Stan

When starting your tour in Stockholm’s Gamla Stan, you will experience the city’s history firsthand. There are cobbled streets, fancy buildings and architecture reminiscent of the medieval era.
Gamla Stan’s streets are segments of Stockholm’s historical record, and they quite literally are a museum. You have to see the Royal Palace, the home of the royals, and watch the arm and leg movements of the guards. You will find Storkyrkan, the oldest church of Stockholm, and visiting it will make you able to see the secret passages where you can see hidden courtyards, small alleyways, and a number of hip cafés.
Vasa Museum

The Vasa Museum is home to the greatest collection of 17th century war ships, and as a result The Vasa is the only approximately completely unspoiled war ship of her century. She sank in 1628 and was raised in 1961.
As well as Sweden’s impressive maritime history and engineering expertise, the Vasa Museum demonstrates the incredible craftsmanship of the vessel’s hand-carved bow and stern, and displays the magnificently restored ship that sank on her maiden voyage. The interactive exhibits and activities explain the ship’s salavaging and preservation, and also provide insights into life aboard the vessel. This location is a favorite among those who appreciate history and amazing stories of maritime discovery and restoration.
Skansen

The world’s first open-air museum is also the first of many global museums. The Skansen Museum highlights Sweden’s historical buildings and lifestyle.
You can see diverse farmsteads, windmills, and everyday homes from different periods and regions of Sweden. The open-air zoo at Skansen features native Scandinavian animals like bears, wolves, and moose. During Midsummer or the Christmas market season the museum comes alive with traditional celebrations, adding an extra layer of cultural immersion. Royal Djurgården

Djurgården is a peaceful island located in the city of Stockholm where you can escape the busy city life. It is home to some of the best attractions such as Skansen and the Vasa Museum.
You can rent a bike or walk along the beautiful paths and stop at one of the waterfront cafes. Head to the Rosendals Trädgård, an organic garden cafe, and have fika (a coffee break) in a lovely orchard. If you go, be sure to bring birdseed for the ducks and swans that like to gather in the canals around the island!
ABBA The Museum

The museum is a great place to visit if you are a super fan of ABBA as you can get fully immersed in the ABBA experience with interactive exhibits, memorabilia and a recreation of the Polar recording studio. You can even go on the stage and perform with hologram members of the band. Once you have finished the museum, you can visit the restaurant and bar at the Pop House Hotel, which is in the same building, and have a meal in the ABBA themed restaurant with lots of ABBA memorabilia and decorations.
Nordic Museum

The Nordic Museum is a great place to find artifacts related to Scandinavian history.
