The beach stretches for miles and offers plenty of space for sunbathing, swimming, and playing beach volleyball. The boardwalk is a popular spot for strolling and people-watching, and plenty of restaurants and bars are nearby.
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Myrtle Beach is a quintessential family beach destination; who doesn’t have fond childhood memories there? The beach is known for its vast, sandy shoreline and warm waters, perfect for swimming and building sandcastles. Plenty of family-friendly attractions are nearby, including water parks and mini-golf courses.
Cape May, New Jersey
Before you reject this recommendation, let us assure you that “The Jersey Shore” isn’t just what you see on TV! Cape May is a charming seaside town that offers a quieter beach experience. The town itself is full of Victorian architecture and quaint shops and restaurants, making it a great place to explore after a day at the beach.
Outer Banks, North Carolina
OBX is the beach of my childhood, and I can’t recommend this spot highly enough. The area is full of history and natural beauty, with plenty of lighthouses, wildlife refuges, and parks to explore. You’ll also find plenty of small shops, restaurants, ice cream shops, and more to explore here.
Cannon Beach, Oregon
This stunning shoreline is known for its iconic Haystack Rock, which stands tall in the ocean and makes for a perfect photo op. Spend the day lounging on the beach or exploring the tide pools, but don’t come expecting to swim- there’s no swimming allowed on this scenic beach. Pack a cover-up, as temperatures are cooler here than on many beaches on our list!
La Jolla Cove, California
If you’re looking for a more upscale beach experience, La Jolla Cove is the place to be. This beach is surrounded by gorgeous mansions and has crystal-clear waters that are perfect for snorkeling or swimming. If you visit in July-October, you can expect warm temperatures for sporting that bikini!
Malibu Beach, California
You can’t talk about West Coast beaches without mentioning Malibu. This iconic beach is a favorite among surfers and sunbathers alike, with its long stretch of golden sand and stunning views of the Pacific. Just a note of warning, though-be prepared for crowds! This popular and busy beach isn’t the best choice for R&R.
